We thanked God she wasn't alone. That no one was hurt. That the weather was cold but not frigid. That we had AAA. A wrecker towed her car to the nearest town and friends came from school to pick them up.
It was only the next morning, after the Saint talked to the driver of the tow truck, that it came to light WHY the car had "just up and died". Let's just say the car will not be "up and running" any time soon.
The Saint drove two hours with a friend (a GOOD friend) to retrieve the car. They rented a trailer and hauled it back here. They left the car at our regular garage and tomorrow we'll have the mechanics take a look and access the damages.
Too bad the money tree in the back yard just lost all its leaves.

That's one of my recurring worries--as all our cars are fully paid off and have plenty of miles. I'm going to knock on wood now.
I hope it's not too expensive.
Ummmm, was it the oil? Did she not have the oil changed?
Ask me how I know this.
No, wait. Don't.
Man, those middle of the night calls are the worst. Talk about an adrenaline rush!
She ignored the oil light, didn't she? Froze up the engine block? Ask me how I know. No, wait, don't!
Oh, but no. Car repairs are never a happy place. They do leave me thankful that we don't have to purchase cars by the individual parts because they seem to be much more expensive that way than already assembled.
Oh man, thank GOD she was okay--and had company with her. How scary. The old car repair woes, they never cease to be a pain in one's arse.
Gah. My dad used to yell at me for not changing the oil all the time. Because he knew if he didn't, it was inevitable that the same would happen to me. Just ugh. Not fun. Sorry.
