Well my day is off to a spectacular start. I let the dog out, started a pot of coffee, and went out to get the paper. In my nightie and robe. My pea brain DID register wet pavement. But we had some snow two days ago. Snow melts. This phenomenon causes pavement to appear wet. When in fact night time temperatures have dipped and the perceived moisture is a thin coat of ice.
I'm sure it looked like a scene straight out of the "Three Stooges". Feet flying up in the air, arms waving wildly for non-existent support, the thud of one's bottom then head hitting the ground. Me laying there dazed and dizzy and trying to figure how in the hell I was going to get up. Good times!
Fortunately the Saint heard the
girly shrieking thud and came to my rescue. I've had coffee and Alleve. I think I'll be OK. No doubt the bruise on my ass will be enormous, and my neck is feeling very stiff. But
Paco is still shivering in the cold and those cookies are not going to bake themselves, so I shall press on. But I might need a Hot Toddy first!

Isn't it amazing how little kids can fall like that a zillion times a day and barely notice? Me, I would have had to call 911.
Oh, geez, that really sucks!! I slipped on the hill in my front yard retrieving the paper about 6 yrs ago and strained my hamstring and I still feel it every day. I hope you didn't do any lingering damage...I saw so many people bust their ass today...you were not alone! (not that that helps your aching body) Sorry that happened.
I was just thinking about what SC said, about kids. A few years ago I was standing out in my driveway, when my dog decided to shoot out of the house at me and literally took my feet right out from under me, thudding me to the concrete. I swear, every part of my body hurt, and I thought even at that time, if this happened to one of the kids, they just bounce right back up and keep going.
In any case, I hope the Motrin and coffee are working, and I'm sure a little wine wouldn't hurt either. What, it's afternoon! Paco needs his decorations, after all. I still haven't thought of a good name for my fake tree.
SC: No shit!
DQ: Knowing I'm not alone is not helping the pain!
Shelley: I feel like a got run over by a truck. :(
